I've been struggling recently with the name I have given this blog and my company. This is mostly due to the fact that the name Of tea, lace and sailboats is very suggestive. It creates immediate images of sweet innocent and lovely things and I feel it really boxes me in creatively. Whilst most of the things shown on this blog are jewellery and within the style of 'delightful' (if such a style exists), I actually design lots of different things and my tastes are really varied. In particular I love kitsch things and Formica furniture and shabby chic.
Now I am still quite new to this business lark and I don't think it's to late to have a name change. My shop on Not On The High Street will have to stay the same for now but there is no reason that when I create my own website I can't somehow link it to the online store. Also for now I will keep my blogspot address the same, just until people become familiar with the new name and know to follow it instead.
So, without further ado, here is the new name it's... 'Of N.ann'
Now this might seem particularly without creativity, but I think it fits perfectly. It is entirely ambivalent, it means nothing. (actually, it's the initial of my first name next to my second Natalie Ann) but it fits in the sense that as an artist and person I am ambivalent and that I still don't really know who I am.
Which is fine, i'll figure it out eventually, or maybe I wont. But that's fine too.
